"Life is what happens to you, while you're busy making other plans." -- John Lennon
I didn't choose massage therapy as a 'career'; it chose me. The bodywork I was receiving and giving allowed me the opportunity to explore, in the beginning. The search grew out of my desire to help people resolve their discomfort and pain. Programs completed: Psychology BA; yoga teacher-trainings; Hospice caregiver, Patient Advocacy, and Conflict Resolution certifications; lymphatic treatment, on-site competitive sports therapy. Experience: I've learned about all sorts of human conditions, through working collaboratively in Physical therapy and chiropractic offices, in Marin and Sonoma counties over three decades. Several healers have influenced my formative years: Initially, I trained with Dr. Harley Goldberg at his San Rafael office, 1979-80. He had been Lauren Berry's "right-hand-man" for years, doing "The Work". That framework harmonizes with many modalities; fine-tuning my intuitive sensitivity. My procedure involves feeling various pulses and other responses, while doing Swedish-style strokes; some joint mobilization or other methods of opening contractions. It might feel like yoga therapy or physical therapy; "ironing muscular wrinkles out"; or conversely, I may be "holding securely, creating safe space" for movement to occur, (such as deeper breaths). The human experience is marvelously unique, so that no two massages are alike. Expect to feel some pressure with rhythmic movement and a lot of energy flow, as I begin broadly and then attend more closely to details. Nuance can be so powerful. Full engagement is the healing process: Together breathing, together adjusting. Yes, I can "mash" on sore spots; Mostly, when asked to treat the issue like I'm a hammer (as if they are the nail); comes from a sense of numb aching, places that are just too contracted to feel much otherwise. As the tension begins to soften, more appropriate options become quite healing, powerful, and enjoyable. Inquiry leads to exploration and discovery. Out of deep consideration, comes relief. I don't necessarily have solutions, but I can help lead you to the source of understanding what you are struggling to heal. I won't diagnose anything; but I can help you gain insight towards freedom within yourself. |

Welcome friends! Experience has taught me that life changes when we increase our capacity to make empowered choices. Through empowered choices we transform our lives as they are into the lives we desire.
Sometimes those empowered choices seem to evade us when we are stressed, depleted, and carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. Sometimes we just need to rest our bodies, clear our heads, and listen for the subtle whispers of Spirit. My mission is to help others by providing experiences that are rejuvenating and healing; I provide a combination of Mind-Body-Spirit techniques that will move you toward empowered choices for the change that you desire. My tool box includes, Reiki, Access Consciousness Bars, and Intuitive Readings. All of these modalities work gently to nudge you toward healing and rejuvenation of Mind, Body, and Spirit. I am a Reiki Master Teacher, Access Consciousness Bars Practitioner and Intuitive Reader. I am also a Certified Professional Reflexologist and have studied wellness coaching, the culinary and medicinal use of herbs, digestive healing, aromatherapy, various energy healing modalities, meditation, Indigenous Reiki healing, and have 250+ classroom hours in the study of spirituality and metaphysics. Contact me to discuss how we can tailor a session that meets your needs. contact cheryl at:empoweringmindbodyspirit@gmail.com
